Marianne Infante

Marianne Infante is an interdisciplinary Kapampángan actor, producer, writer, mover and Proudly Asian Theatre’s company producer.
In 2006, she moved to Ōtautahi Aotearoa (Christchurch NZ) with her family from San Fernando Pampanga Philippines. After high school, at the age of 18 she relocated solo to Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland NZ) to pursue acting. She gained a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Screen and Theatre Acting at Unitec in 2016 and has been represented by Kathryn Rawlings & Associates since.
Marianne’s recent acting and performance credits are Ugly Shakespeare Company’s Aotearoa’s national schools tour of Othello (2020), Basement Theatre’s Christmas show Frickin Dangerous SpaceMas (2019), a mover in Caitlin Davies’ TEMPO show About Others, premiere of PINAY (2019), TVNZ’s New Blood Webseries ‘Life Is Easy’, PAT & Spooky Antix’s Tide Waits For No Man: Episode Grace (2019) and have toured around schools with Mind Over Manner’s anti-bullying and neurodiversity programmes.
As a young and fresh playwright, Marianne developed her first theatre script PINAY through PAT’s Fresh Off the Page initiative in 2018 which then premiered to full houses at Basement Theatre in 2019. The production made history as Aotearoa’s first Filipino-Kiwi multilingual theatre script and production. PINAY won 2019’s Auckland Theatre Awards’ Excellence for Overall Production. Recently Marianne has received a Creative New Zealand grant to develop and prepare PINAY towards a touring season. Watch this space.
Infante’s producing experiences started with PAT’s public playreadings Fresh Off the Page in 2018 followed by Aerios Socio-Theatre’s premiere of Get That Circus Out of My Lion, PAT’s co-productions Tide Waits For No Man: Episode Grace and Deep.
Marianne Infante received Auckland Theatre Awards’ Outstanding Newcomer Awards in 2018. Since Unitec, Marianne went on to add many strings to her artistic bow as a stage manager (BOYS for Here and Now ATC, TEMPO Dance Festival, Unitec QuickFix), creative administrator for PAT, Page to Pitch and He Waka Eke Noa Charitable Trust, host/MC and a drama tutor at Point Chevalier Drama Club.
