John Rata

In-House Producer

John Rata is a Filipino Writer, Director and graduate of Unitec's Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts degree. He has since worked in various management and assistant roles in film & Theatre, from NZFC funded short films to the Pop-Up Globe. In 2016 he premiered his first play, The Ball Date, at Te Pou Theatre and is currently undergoing a writing mentorship with Script to Screen under their South Shorts initiative. While being the photographer for 2018's Fresh Off The Page, John has now joined the team as an assistant producer for the programme in 2019 and will debut his first work in the series this year. He is incredibly joyed to help provide a platform for Asian creatives to spread and share their stories to the world.
