East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) is at its boiling point, as civilians and protestors clash with Pakistan’s brutal suppression of Bengali culture and language.
Priya is a young woman who loves her family and her words. When Bangladesh declares its independence, the life and safety of herself and her family are jeopardised. As those around her flee violence or brace for war, Priya must find her footing in a current of turmoil. Using poetry, she must find her voice and sense of belonging alongside a country that is still being born.
